Devin Goodale def. Khetag Pliev by TKO (Detached Finger), Round 2, 5:00
That’s the official result from Sherdog’s fight finder, on the gruesome CFFC 94 bout which had Pliev’s finger completely severed. The bizarre story and particularly graphic images have been detailed here, with his finger even going missing, and had everyone searching the entire arena for several minutes.
The finger has since been reattached after emergency surgery, and it looks like Pliev will completely recover. The decorated wrestler was seemingly more disappointed that he wasn’t allowed to continue fighting though.
“In the second round, he caught my glove with one hand and held it,” Pliev told ESPN. “I felt my finger snapped. He kept pulling my glove and my finger snapped. We kept fighting. When the second round was finished, I see my [bone] was out in the open. I wanted to keep fighting, because I felt like I had this guy. But the doctor saw that and stopped the fight.”
CFFC promoter Rob Haydak also discussed the incident.
“It was a surreal moment,” Haydak said. “I said, ‘Wait a second, where the f--- is his finger?’ They were all like, ‘I don’t know.’ It was crazy,” Haydak said. “He didn’t even flinch. He was getting ready to do the [official] decision and I was like, ‘Uh, guys, get him out of the cage and go put his finger back on.’”
Since you probably clicked on this for the nastiness, here’s a still graphic photo of the reattached finger.
