UFC 258 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth episode for this weekend’s big show in Vegas, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off in Maycee Barber’s room, where she’s sparring and doing some grappling. it switches quickly to Kelvin Gastelum, who is doing media. He’s respectful of his opponent, Ian Heinisch. He feels like his experience advantage will make a difference.
Barber has a loooong signature. It’s pointed out to her that she has to sign 80 of them, but she doesn’t care. She wants pink and sparkles. Belal Muhammad shows up and remarks on her long signature. She don’t care.
Alexa Grasso gets her makeup done. They actually interview John Morgan to point out the differences in media interaction during the pandemic. Daniel Cormier then asks Grasso questions (remotely). Her English is amazing. She says of her fight, “We’re gonna make fire”. That’s awesome.
Gilbert Burns comments on Kamaru Usman leaving the team, while he’s still there, so he has a lot of info. He’s extremely respectful of his ex-teammate though. They show Burns walking the hallways and seeing pictures of legends, and he thinks he’ll be up there too one day.
The champ is here. Usman shows to sign some posters. Back to media day, he’s asked what he got out of sparring with Burns that he can exploit. He just said that while he’s not the best at anything, he’s the best at “mixin’ it up”. Hard to deny that.
And that’s it! UFC 258 goes down Saturday night in Vegas.
