It’s time for UFC Vegas 39, which means Bloody Elbow is back once again with some betting lines. The top of the billing will take place amongst ranked strawweights when the #4 rated, Mackenzie Dern, tussles with the #6 rated, Marina Rodriguez. Let’s get to the numbers!
Both athletes have only lost once in their respective MMA careers, but the oddsmakers are siding with Dern here. Rodriguez has picked up two impressive wins in a row (Michelle Waterson and Amanda Ribas), but Dern has won her last four fights, finishing three of them by way of first-round submission.
Dern is on deck with a favored line of -175, and a successful $100 bet on the BJJ goddess would get you back a total of $157.14. That leaves Rodriguez posted up in the underdog realm with a value of +150. That means dropping a bill on Marina could possibly win you a total of $250.
Let’s take a look at some of the prop bets for the UFC Vegas 39 main event. It appears as though not many people are expecting Dern and Rodriguez to reach the scorecards. The proposition ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ is rocking a heavily favored moneyline of-350, with a +245 comeback on the ‘Fight goes to decision’ option.
Can you guess which fighter the odds say will find the finish? That’s right! It’s the wicked submission artist who has an assortment of arms, legs, and necks on her mantle at home. Gamblers can lay the price on ‘Dern wins inside distance’ at a cost of -125, or take the price on ‘Rodriguez wins inside distance’ at a sizable dog tag of +300.
Having already achieved a tap in four out of her six UFC appearances, the oddsmakers have finally caught on to the likelihood of a Mackenzie grappling frenzy. The exotic bet ‘Dern wins by submission’ is mostly found at +100 even money, with one site showing a minus line of -110. For anyone smelling a 115-pound version of Anthony Hernandez vs. Rodolfo Vieira, then ‘Rodriguez wins by submission’ at +3400 is your ticket.
