“The thing about spicy food, you can’t let it touch your lips. The burn, that’s what makes you wanna quit.”

These were the words of wisdom Derrick Lewis dropped on his recent appearance on viral YouTube show Hot Ones. “The Black Beast” is now one of the many celebrities and UFC fighters to take on and survive the ten “wings of death,” and he did handle himself quite well.

Lewis touched on several topics that aren’t usually covered by MMA most media outlets. Among them were his recently-opened beauty salon and how a mosquito caused him to fumble his first pitch at the Houston Astros game in July.

He also shared a story about knocking out an internet troll in front of the man’s wife and daughter, who had it all on video.

The 36-year-old Lewis last saw action at UFC 265 in August in an interim title fight against Ciryl Gane and lost via third-round TKO. He is now looking to bounce back from that defeat in his upcoming headliner against Chris Daukaus on December 18.
