According to the Quad Cities Times UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich was arrested by police in Moline, Illinois under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was then booked into the Rock Island County Jail and charged with one count of DWI.

Miletich, 54, was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. on Monday on the 4300 block of River Drive. It is not known if Miletich failed a breathalyzer test.

In Illinois a person can be charged with DWI regardless of their blood alcohol content. Any amount of alcohol judged to impair a person’s ability to drive can lead to a charge of DWI.

Early last year Miletich plead guilty to a separate charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. That offense occurred in Miletich’s home city of Bettendorf, Iowa. After pleading guilty Miletich was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation. His period of probation was discharged in July, 2019 after Miletich completed an in-home detention and 12-hour course on drink driving.

Miletich was the first welterweight champion in UFC history. He earned that honour at UFC Brazil in October, 1998 when he defeated Mikey Burnett. He would defend his title on four occasions (versus Jorge Patino, Andre Pederneiras, John Alessio and Kenichi Yamamoto). After losing his title to Carlos Newton in 2001, Miletich fought four more times before calling it a career. His pro record stands at 29-7-2.

As a coach Miletich trained UFC champions Matt Hughes, Tim Sylvia, Jens Pulver and Robbie Lawler.

Miletich is currently scheduled to face former IBF middleweight and WBA super middleweight champion boxer Michael Nunn, 57, in a kickboxing bout. Miletich vs. Nunn is planned to take place on July 18 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa.
