UFC 251 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth episode for this weekend’s big show on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off at the fighter hotel with Max Holloway, whose quarantine is finally over. He’s going for a hike in the dark. He’s taking pictures with the Octagon on the beach, and goes for a swim once it’s light out.
Over in Alex Volkanovski’s room, he’s having a coffee and getting ready to train. He’s playing some video games and talking about the mental game of fighting. He doesn’t think Holloway will make the right adjustments if he thought he won the first fight. He gets a golf cart ride down to the beach, where the ceremonial Octagon is. His team swims too, but the water is very warm apparently.
Jose Aldo is doing some media. He says it’s somehow easier to cut to bantamweight than it was to featherweight. I have no idea now, and he doesn’t explain. Petr Yan is again asked about training with Aldo in 2016. He calls it a great experience. He doesn’t think Aldo has gotten any better since then though, while he has.
Rose Namajunas talks about the first fight with Jessica Andrade, and trying to get better before the second one. She wants to be a ninja again. Andrade says she has nothing to prove, she just wants a win so she can get another shot at the title. Amanda Ribas is in the room and they have a quick but amicable chat about maybe fighting each other one day. Ribas does her own media and she’s very bubbly and charismatic. She talks about meeting Jose Aldo and Andrade and it being surreal for her.
And that’s it! UFC 251 goes down this Saturday night on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
