UFC on ESPN salaries: Tyron Woodley grabs top purse at $200k

New, comments

The NSAC has released the payouts for last weekend’s UFC event, headlined by a welterweight top contender’s bout between Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns.

The UFC didn’t exactly load their most recent fight card with notable talent. Outside the main event battle between Gilbert Burns and Tyron Woodley, former flyweight title challenger Katlyn Chookagian was the highest profile name on the billing—and she still found herself stuck on the prelims. So, it’s not terribly surprising that salaries for the show were largely kept to double digits.

Even without a win bonus, Woodley - as the former welterweight champion - took home the card’s highest contracted payout, with a base salary of $200,000 in his loss to Burns. For his main event win, Burns grabbed $168,000—but snagged another $50,000 in bonus money to to walk out of the event with the night’s biggest check. Augusto Sakai and Katlyn Chookagian were the only other fighters to bank $100k or more on the night. Total payouts for the event came to $1,161,000, with an additional $200,000 in bonus money.

Here’s a look at the complete salary numbers*, as reported by the Nevada State Athletic Commission:
