There won’t be a two-week turnaround for Kevin Holland anymore.

Holland (17-5) has been removed from this Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 9 card with a shoulder injury, per ESPN. MMA Junkie originally reported that Holland wasn’t granted medical clearance after he suffered an injury in training. Holland was scheduled to drop to welterweight to face Daniel Rodriguez.

At the last UFC event on May 16th, Holland wowed with a spectacular 39-second TKO of Anthony Hernandez. The 27-year-old is no stranger to being an active fighter, having competed in 22 bouts in just over five years as a professional. This would’ve been the quickest turnaround of his career and one of the quickest in UFC history, but he’ll have to wait a little longer to build on the success of his dominant display vs. Hernandez.

As for Rodriguez (11-1), a replacement has been found to keep him on the card, as he’ll face newcomer Gabriel Green (9-2). He’s coming off a surprising TKO win over veteran Tim Means back in February.

UFC on ESPN 9 will feature a welterweight main event between former champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns.
