It was not exciting, but Israel Adesanya managed to get the job done and keep his belt at UFC 248.
After five not so eventful rounds, the ‘Last Stylebender’ scored a unanimous decision victory over Yoel Romero in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Twitter, pro fighters reacted to the title fight.
@YoelRomeroMMA is going to do this of for us old folk. ✊ #UFC248

Record his longest time in a fight before a strike was thrown?
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) March 8, 2020
Counter punchers don’t know what to do if you don’t attack.

Legit thought there would start with a dance off #ufc248

Imagine we have a repeat of Ngannou and Lewis #ufc248

Everyone booing but I think this is such a smart game plan for Romero. Doesn’t make for an exciting fight. But I think he won the first round #UFC248

Yoels not giving Izzy any reads it’s hard to move in on him this is Yoels world right now

— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) March 8, 2020
People are booing but I’m on the edge of my seat here. Fascinating
— michael (@bisping) March 8, 2020
This fight has had barely any strikes thrown and just as interesting as the last fight. #UFC248

Did Yoel throw a strike in Rd 3?
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) March 8, 2020
I’ve never really liked #MMA, I absolutely love competition though, the purer the better...#SmoothConfessions

Izzy got staph and Yoel made weight I knew this fight wasn’t gonna be epic
— Belal Muhammad (@bullyb170) March 8, 2020
Think it's safe to say I had the most exciting @ufc middleweight fight tonight. #UFC248
— Gerald Meerschaert (@The_Real_GM3) March 8, 2020
well that was anticlimactic
— Dillon Danis (@dillondanis) March 8, 2020
Romero was smart to wait for the counter striker Adesanya early in the fight. He was trying to get him to come forward and land a big shot. Almost worked. This was a tactical fight between two smart & disciplined fighters. #UFC248
— Kenny Florian (@kennyflorian) March 8, 2020
AND STILL!!!!#UFC248
— Francis Ngannou (@francis_ngannou) March 8, 2020
Sometimes fights be like that, the ladies shined tho! #UFC248
— Angela Hill (@AngieOverkill) March 8, 2020
Not even Adesanya believe he won...I had Romero all the way!
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) March 8, 2020
I love Izzy, but in my honest opinion, Romero won that due to extreme inactivity on both parties but Romero doing slightly more. #UFC248
— Aljamain Sterling (@funkmasterMMA) March 8, 2020
I had it 4-1 for @YoelRomeroMMA ♂️
