Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer targeted for UFC 250 in May

New, comments

It looks like it will be Felicia Spencer, not Megan Anderson, getting the next shot at Amanda Nunes’ featherweight title.

Amanda Nunes is set to make the first defense of her UFC featherweight title against Felicia Spencer at UFC 250 in May.

ESPN first reported the news, that Dana White has announced that verbal agreements are in place for the bout. Nunes vs. Spencer will likely serve as the co-main event of the UFC 250 card. This fight will be Nunes’ first at 145-pounds since winning the title against Cris Cyborg in December 2018.

Nunes (19-4) is undefeated since 2014 and has beaten the very best contenders in her respective weight classes. Since winning the UFC women’s bantamweight title almost four years ago, she has defended it against the likes of Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko and most recently Germaine de Randamie.

Spencer (8-1) is only three fights deep into her UFC career, but coming off a first-round stoppage win against Zarah Fairn Dos Santos at UFC Norfolk has earned her a shot against Nunes. The Canadian submitted Megan Anderson in her UFC debut last year, then went on to lose to Cyborg in September.

UFC 250 is expected to take place on May 9th at Ginasio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil. A UFC bantamweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Henry Cejudo will also feature on the card.
