Iconic MMA superstar Conor McGregor made his return to the Octagon this past January and obliterated Donald Cerrone in a sporty 40-seconds. The former champ-champ stated that he wanted to have an active 2020 season, and what would be more electrifying than a future matchup with someone else who doesn’t do boring fights — Justin Gaethje?
Online gambling site SportsBetting.ag has released gambling odds for this possible lightweight collision. The oddsmakers are projecting McGregor to get the best of Gaethje. With a moneyline of -175, McGregor straight up clocks in as the betting favorite. That leaves Gaethje in the underdog slot with a value of +150. This bout must take place by December 31, 2020 for action.
This matchup makes a ton of sense. For one, both men are known to stand and bang, and are beyond capable of shutting out the lights in spectacular fashion. Stylistically, it’s impossible to envision anything other than a fan-friendly fireworks display in a McGregor vs. Gaethje bout. For two, they are both coming off of knockout wins over Donald Cerrone. On paper this makes a ton of sense. Gaethje wants the belt, and Uncle Dana wants Conor to rematch the current champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov, more than anything else. This would likely be a #1 contenders match if it were to happen.
