Fresh from an emphatic knockout win over Gregor Gillespie at UFC 244 in November, Kevin Lee was looking to notch another victory at UFC Brasilia. The “Motown Phenom” was matched up against the streaking Charles Oliveira, who was facing his first top-ten opponent.

Lee already lost the first battle in the scales, coming in 2.5 pounds heavier at 158.5. Things didn’t look well for him inside the cage, as he was stopped by Oliveira’s signature guillotine choke in the first 30 seconds of round three.

As seen on video and by referee Mike Beltran himself, Lee tapped a few moments after Oliveira locked in the choke. Lee, however, went on to protest the stoppage, claiming that he didn’t.

These actions apparently caught Jorge Masvidal’s attention, who quickly sent out a message for the defeated Lee.

Lee is now 2-3 in his last five fights, as he holds a record of 18-6 (with 11 wins by stoppage). Oliveira, meanwhile, is on a seven-fight win streak with a record of 29-8 (with 1 NC and 27 wins by stoppage).
