UFC Vegas 13 results: Glover Teixeira submits Thiago Santos in thriller

Glover Teixeira pulled out a third-round submission in a back and forth war with Thiago Santos in the UFC Vegas 13 main event.

The top of the UFC Vegas 13 billing was the setting where the promotion’s #3 ranked light heavyweight, Glover Teixeira, overcame some adversity to submit the #1 ranked, Thiago Santos, with a rear-naked choke in the third-round. Santos hurt Glover right away, but then spent the next round and a half on his back. The third round saw Santos drop Glover again, but followed the superior grappler to the floor where he ultimately met his demise. Glover scrambled all the way to the back and pulled out the RNC. This was a crazy fight! With five-straight wins under his belt, Teixeira has positioned himself at the top of the 205-pound title picture... right behind UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.

Santos blasted Teixeira with heavy punches early in the opening round. Despite being on skates and hitting the deck, Teixeira was able to clinch up and slow things down. He then scored a lifting takedown to take top position. He maintained control for the rest of the round, dropping ground strikes along the way. It’s actually a tough round to score. Thiago did early damage but Glover dominated after that.

Teixeira got himself a quick takedown in the second round to pick up right where he left off int he opening act. Santos was stuck on the bottom, eating waves of hammerfists with seemingly very few answers outside of holding on. Glover went hard for a rear-naked choke but time expired before he could finish.

Santos dropped Teixeira with a big left hook to start the third round. He took top position and dropped some hammers trying to end the fight. Several brutal blows landed before Glover was able to scramble out. Teixeira moved right tot he back of Santos, and then quickly attacked with an RNC. Santos tapped.
