The UFC 255 PPV main card is officially underway, and this portion of the event opened up with a rematch between the legendary Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and the... not-so legendary Paul Craig. The first-fight went to a draw, but this time it was Craig who came up with a second-round TKO. Craig took the back and punched away until Shogun sadly tapped out. This is the first finish by way of strikes for Craig in the UFC, and he also has not lost in four straight outings.
A bit of back and forth on the feet went on before Craig got himself a takedown. Shogun worked back to his feet, but ate a set of knees in the process. Craig never let go of Shogun, and dropped down for an Anaconda attempt. That’s when the fight shifted into a gigantic scramble. The fighters swapped back and forth between top and bottom position, with not many strikes being thrown along the way.
Shogun pressed forward in the second-round, looking to land his punches. He caught Craig slipping a few times, scoring with clean shots. Craig then shot in and hit a takedown, and then quickly transitioned to the back. Shogun scrambled out and back up to his feet, but after delivering an oil check, Craig took him right back down. Craig quickly took the back and punched away until Shogun sadly tapped to strikes.
