Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier II is on.

That’s according to McGregor’s longtime coach and mentor, John Kavanagh, who posted a couple of Tweets earlier this week confirming the ‘return of the mac’.

Kavanagh’s Tweets come following Dana White’s dismissal of McGregor vs. Poirier II being a done deal, with the UFC president claiming that McGregor had verbally agreed to the fight but hadn’t signed his end of the bargain.

“It’s on,” Kavanagh posted in his first Tweet, hinting that McGregor-Poirier had been finalized.

The SBG Ireland head then followed up with another Tweet confirming McGregor’s long awaited return to the cage.

“- SBG team member won a title

- 2 SBG team members offered major contracts

- return of the mac confirmed

- pedro going to bed almost on weight

- celebrate the little wins life sends you and life sends you more little wins to celebrate.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since his 40-second stoppage of Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246, which saw the Irishman return to top form and bounce back from his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

UFC 257, which is expected to feature McGregor vs. Poirier as the main event, is scheduled to take place on Jan. 23 at a to be determined location.
