After numerous cancelled fights in 2020, Cyril Gane’s next UFC fight could come against former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos.

Dana White revealed they are working on the fight at the UFC Fight Island 6 pre-fight press conference. The UFC president didn’t specify which event the fight is being targeted for.

Gane was supposed to fight in the co-main event of UFC Fight Island 6 against Ante Delija, but there were issues with Delija’s PFL contract and the fight was cancelled. The French heavyweight has also had fights cancelled against Shamil Abrudahimkov and Sergei Pavolich this year.

Dos Santos (21-8) has lost his last three UFC fights all by stoppage. “Cigano” was stopped by current number one contender Francis Ngannou last year, and also lost to Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik earlier this year. The 36-year-old hasn’t won a fight since stopping Derrick Lewis in March 2019.

Gane (6-0) has won all three of his UFC fights since debuting with the promotion last year. The undefeated heavyweight picked up consecutive submissions in his first two UFC fights, and last won a decision against Tanner Boser at UFC Busan.
