Touted as one of the best prospects in MMA history, Aaron Pico’s career has not panned out as hoped thus far, but he sure started off 2020 with a bang.
Closing out the Bellator 238 preliminary card on Saturday night, the 23-year-old Pico used his wrestling to control the opening round against Daniel Carey, then went to his boxing to close the show very early into round two. A clubbing left hook whacked Carey on the neck (really with the forearm and not the fist), and down he went. One more (not very necessary) punch on the ground for good measure led to the KO victory for Pico.

Pico improved to 5-3, snapping a two-fight losing streak that consisted of knockout defeats against Adam Borics and Henry Corrales. All of his bouts have ended in a stoppage, but for Pico’s sake, he’ll be looking to get back into featherweight title contention this year.
