Khabib Nurmagomedov is willing to fight Conor McGregor again, but under one condition: The UFC pays him a whopping 100 million dollars.
That’s according to Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who told RIA Novosti in a recent interview that ‘The Eagle’ should be one of, if not the, highest paid fighters in the sport.
“We also need revenge against Conor,” Abdulmanap said, per Ryan Harkness of MMA Mania. “But give us $100 million. The day after the fight against Ferguson, give us that amount and then why not get revenge? I don’t know, maybe Dana White wants to arrange it (for that amount), he needs that fight.”
Abdulmanap also weighed in on McGregor’s return fight against Donald Cerrone this past Saturday at UFC 246, and the Dagestani wasn’t impressed. ‘The Notorious’ finished ‘Cowboy’ in just 40 seconds and dazzled fans at the T-Mobile Arena with his unorthodox shoulder strikes, but Abdulmanap says he ‘saw nothing new’ and criticized McGregor for not facing a higher-ranked opponent.
“Nothing surprising, I saw nothing new,” Nurmagomedov said. “This is the 170 pound weight division, where the strongest fighters are gathered, regardless of weight category. Therefore, I think that absolutely nothing has changed in this weight, the current champion has remained on the throne.
“The top contender for the lightweight title is Tony Ferguson. If Conor wants to prove something at welterweight, then there are Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal — these are the greatest fighters. McGregor and Cerrone in this weight aren’t even top ten.”
Khabib is set to defend his lightweight title against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249, which is scheduled to take place on April 18 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
