Believe it or not, former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Johnson used to compete at 170-pounds.
The 35-year-old looked beefy enough as a light heavyweight but, in a recent video released by MMA Sound, Rumble looks to have gained even more muscle mass ahead of his highly anticipated return to the Octagon in the new year.
Check out the video below, where Rumble can be seen hitting the pads at the gym.
Johnson, who fights out of Boca Raton, Florida, announced his retirement in 2017 after losing to then-light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier at UFC 210, but the heavy hitting knockout artist has always left the door open for a comeback. Johnson’s only losses at light heavyweight were to former divisional king ‘DC’, and the Georgia-born fighter holds a win over UFC veteran Andrei Arlovski in a heavyweight contest at WSOF 2.
The feared knockout artist has never competed at heavyweight in the UFC, but fans are already hyping a potential bout between Johnson and top heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou, who is considered the most powerful and ruthless puncher in the division.
Expect an official fight announcement in the coming weeks.
