UFC Mexico City wasn’t much of an event. While there was some decent action, it was built around one fight, a featherweight showdown between Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens, and that went to a No Contest in under 20 seconds. So yeah, that put a damper on things.
In terms of rankings, those two men were by far the most relevant fighters on the card, and obviously they didn’t move at all due to the nature of the finish. There were a few movers, like Brandon Moreno and Alexa Grasso, but the event was largely irrelevant in terms of where people sit as contenders.
Here’s a look at the few changes from this week:
P4P - Robert Whittaker is up one spot to nine ahead of date with Israel Adesanya. That drops Tony Ferguson to ten. Conor McGregor drops from a tie for 11 to 12 on his own.
Heavyweight - No changes.
Light heavyweight - No changes.
Middleweight - No changes.
Welterweight - No changes.
Lightweight - No changes.
Featherweight - No changes.
Bantamweight - No changes.
Flyweight - Moreno’s close win moves him up two spots into a tie for seven. Kai Kara France falls two spots to nine. Alex Perez and and Ryan Benoit flip-flopped the 12 and 13 spot.
Women’s Bantamweight - Irene Aldana moved up one spot to nine with her dominant win, dropping Sara McMann to ten. Bethe Correia’s upset of Sijara Eubanks moves her up two spots to 13. Nicco Montano is down one to 14, and Eubanks holds on at 15.
Women’s Flyweight - No changes.
Women’s Strawweight - Grasso coming up just a bit short against Esparza hurt her ranking, dropping her two spots to 12. This allowed Marina Rodriguez and Cynthia Calvillo to move up a spot each to 10 and 11. Esparza stayed at eight.
