The UFC Vancouver co-main event is in the books and the promotion’s #9 ranked light heavyweight, Glover Teixeira, took a tough split decision over the #13 Nikita Krylov. At 39 years of age, Teixeira is on a three-fight winning streak and mentioned he would like to fight in Brazil next, but didn’t have an opponent to name.
As far as the fight itself, Krylov came out working his kicks and piecing up his opponent, but that’s what led to Teixeira taking him down. Teixeira took the back and began to drop blows, but Krylov rolled into full mount. Krylov then took the back and worked for a choke before getting shook off. Back on the feet, both men landed solid strikes before the bell sounded.
Come round-two, Krylov looked to play the outside, sticking and moving. As for Teixeira, he countered his foe with punches whenever Krylov was in range. Teixeira started to walk down Krylov, stinging him and causing him to literally run away at times. Then, Krylov switched it up and took Teixeira down to the canvas with less than a minute remaining in the round. Teixeira jumped a guillotine early in the final round, but Krylov was able to hang tough and escape. Krylov pulled off a takedown, and Teixeira jumped another unsuccessful guillotine. Teixeira was able to scramble on top just before the final bell sounded.
