UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has commented on a video that surfaced earlier this week which showed Conor McGregor striking an old man in the head in the pub.
In the video, McGregor received a bottle of his Proper 12 whiskey from the bartender in the pub. After handing out glasses to those at the bar, an elderly gentleman apparently refused a glass of McGregor’s whiskey—which led to the Irishman punching him in the head. Since then, UFC president Dana White has admitted he knew about the incident for a while, as it occurred in April.
Talking to TMZ Sports, Nurmagomedov said if it was him in McGregor’s shoes the incident would have been talked about a lot earlier.
“It’s crazy. All media stayed quiet. Nobody posted about this. I can’t imagine if I punched this guy how many media are gonna post it and talk about me. This is like really, really bad thing. Like, even if this old guy on video punch your face 10 times, you can’t punch this guy’s face. You can’t. This is like impossible. We have to respect all people. I don’t understand.” (Transcription via MMA Fighting)
After discussing how McGregor should go to jail for the incident and questioning how the U.S.A can issue him a visa after an incident like this, Khabib said the government has to punish McGregor for his actions.
“I told you guy, this guy have no class, no respect,” Khabib said. “This is very bad for sport. Somethings he’s done are good for sport but right now, he without his mind. He lose his mind. It’s crazy and government has to smash him, this is my opinion.
“I’m really, really mad about this video. I don’t understand how you can punch old man. How you can punch him. Even if he punch your face 10 times, 20 times. This is big, big disrespect, not only for this old guy, this is big disrespect for all people.”
