The UFC 238 main event is the setting where the promotion crowned a new bantamweight champion. The vacant belt was captured by the company’s flyweight champ, Henry Cejudo, when he snuffed out the #1 ranked 135-pounder Marlon Moraes in the third round.

Moraes came out launching kicks at his opponent, keeping Cejudo on the outside in the first round. Cejudo spent a lot of the round trying to find a way on the inside, and a lot of time trying to not get kicked. Moraes hammered the inside leg kick early in the second round, but then Cejudo started to turn it up. He pressured a fading Moraes and fought his way on the inside. That’s where his punches were landing as well as his knees from the clinch.

Cejudo stayed with the pressure in the third round. He was able to work over Moraes against the cage and ultimately take top position. Huge elbows were dropped by the flyweight champ, and then he switched to hammerfists. Cejudo was able to seal the deal just inside of the ten second sticks.

Cejudo is now riding a five-fight winning streak, and called out Dominick Cruz, Cody Garbrandt, and Urijah Faber in his post-fight interview.
