‘Korean Zombie’ wants top-four opponent following KO win over Moicano at UFC Greenville

“I think anybody higher-ranked than he is, we’re one step closer to that goal.”

Korean fan favorite Chan Sung Jung, otherwise known as ‘Korean Zombie’, returned to top form this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 154, earning a stunning first-round knockout of top-five featherweight contender Renato Moicano in the main event at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

The win helped Jung temporarily forget about his loss to Yair Rodriguez, who finished the Korean with a highlight reel knockout at UFC Fight Night 139 last November.

“I definitely forgot about that,” Jung’s translator and coach, Eddie Cha, said on Jung’s behalf on the ESPN+ post-fight show (h/t Steven Marrocco of MMA Junkie). “But as a fighter, it definitely helps when you’re on a winning streak, as opposed to a losing streak.”

Following his knockout win over Moicano, ideally Korean Zombie would like to fight a top-four opponent next — anything that inches him closer to a title shot.

“Probably 4, 3, 2 and 1,” Cha said. “We talked about it, but we don’t want to look ahead. I think anybody higher-ranked than he is, we’re one step closer to that goal.”

Expect Jung, who is currently ranked at #12 in the official UFC featherweight rankings, surge into the top five once the UFC updates its website in the coming days.
