According to the NY Daily News pro boxer Marcus Browne, 28, was arrested last Wednesday for allegedly violating an order of protection designed to protect the mother of his child. This is reportedly the fourth time Browne has been arrested for violating a protection order against this individual.

In this most recent alleged violation Browne is accused of pushing his way into a Staten Island, NY apartment after dropping off his child. He is also accused of refusing to leave the premises and arguing with the resident until she called 911.

Browne was later arraigned on charges of criminal contempt and trespassing. He was set a bail of $5,000.

In January Browne plead guilty to charges of criminal contempt in the second degree in connection with an attack on the same woman, who was his girlfriend at the time. He was sentenced to 26 sessions of New York’s batterer’s intervention program and a conditional discharge. The woman was issued a full order of protection.

The incident Browne plead guilty over happened on September 27th, 2018. It was then that authorities say Browne choked the woman at an apartment they shared in Staten Island. Authorities also said that before the choking Browne kicked a hole in a door and prevented the woman from placing a 911 call.

Prior to that incident Browne was the subject of another criminal complaint from the same woman. In March, 2018 Browne was accused of violating an earlier protection order by appearing at and threatening to break into the woman’s home.

That order of protection was enacted in December 2017 after Browne was accused of assaulting the woman, by grabbing her around the neck and arm and hitting her in her face with an index finger; reportedly hard enough to cause substantial bruising around her eye.

Browne boxed on the USA’s 2012 Olympic team before turning pro. His record currently stands at 23-0. His most recent victory, over Badou Jack in January, earned him the WBA interim and WBC Silver light heavyweight titles. He is scheduled to defend the WBA interim light heavyweight title on August 3rd against Jean Pascal.
