What could cause Khabib Nurmagomedov to feel the need to rematch Conor McGregor, as he has recently implied? Their Twitter beef from last April was quickly squashed but hardly resolved. Perhaps it has something to do with McGregor’s refusal to be humbled, and his ability to turn every fight, win or lose, into an opportunity to wax poetic about the McGregor brand.
With the recently published Forbes list of highest paid athletes, maybe it rankles Khabib to see McGregor as the highest Mixed Martial Artist listed. Maybe a second win will extinguish the fire that fuels his end of the rivalry. McGregor is driven, but his endgame is to simply be Conor McGregor. Once he vanquishes an opponent, all pretense of dislike is cast aside. Khabib has beaten his rival in unarmed combat and still the fire burns. What more can he take from Conor?
Take care of yourself and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
PS, I’ll be on press row at Madison Square Garden at Bellator this Friday night, drawing pictures and posting some of them on my twitter feed, @RiniMMA
