Tito Ortiz is coming off a win over Chuck Liddell and will extend his career by signing with Combate Americas for an apparent fight with Alberto Del Rio later this year. His Liddell bout came under the Golden Boy MMA banner, which was Oscar De La Hoya’s first foray into MMA.

It did not end up as a success, doing as low as 30,000 buys. UFC president Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya hurled some insults back and forth while White criticized the show Oscar put on, which led to Oscar challenging Dana to a boxing match.

In an interview The Schmo, Ortiz acknowledged the issues De La Hoya had with promoting MMA, and even went as far as to (gasp) agree with Dana!

“I think he made a lot of mistakes, but at the same time, for a boxing promoter to come into mixed martial arts, it’s a different animal. Dana was right.”

If you’re interested in Ortiz’s opinions on other things, the quick-hit interview also allows him to share his opinion on who will defeat Jon Jones, whether Jones will fight Daniel Cormier at heavyweight, and why he continues to fight.
