Frankie Edgar calls for third booking against Max Holloway: ‘Let’s finally get this done’

Frankie Edgar wants a third booking against UFC featherweight champ Max Holloway after their last two fell through.

Twice Frankie Edgar has been booked to face UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway, and on both occasions the fight has fallen through. But could the third time be a charm for “The Answer”?

Never in his MMA career has Edgar (23-6-1) been away from the cage for so long, having not fought since winning a decision over Cub Swanson in April 2018. Before that win, Edgar suffered the first knockout loss of his career to Brian Ortega at UFC 222. Holloway was supposed to be his opponent on that night, but the Hawaiian was forced out with a leg injury.

Four months before that Edgar withdrew from the pair’s first booking at UFC 218. Posting on Instagram earlier this week, Edgar campaigned for a title shot against ‘Blessed.’

“Hey [Max Holloway], not once, but twice we got all dressed up, took pictures, and never got to dance. Everybody knows I put my last opportunity on the line because that’s the kind of people we are. Let’s finally get this done!

FYI, your last fight was epic, let’s put another one in the history books! May I have this dance?”

Holloway (20-4) recently had his thirteen-fight winning streak snapped by Dustin Poirier last month, losing by unanimous decision. However because the fight took place at 155-pounds, Holloway is still the current UFC featherweight champion.
