Top-ranked UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington is up to his usual tricks, this time taking aim at four of his fellow welterweights.

Speaking in a recent interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Covington, who is expected to challenge newly-crowned champion Kamaru Usman for the 170-pound title, sounded off on Tyron Woodley, Robbie Lawler, Ben Askren and Kamaru ‘Snoozeman’.

“We got Woodley and Lawler fighting for the senior citizens championships,” Covington said, per Fernando Quiles Jr. of MMA News. “Those guys should be retired by now, they’re embarrassing. We got Ben Askren, he’s already gonna go get embarrassed in front of the whole world when he goes against [Jordan] Burroughs at ‘Beat The Streets.’ We got my good buddy Jorge [Masvidal] climbing his way up, which we’ve had countless sparring sessions and training accounts together. And then we got me and Marty ‘Fake’ Snoozeman at the top of the mountain right now ready to settle it. It’s an interesting time in the welterweight division, but I called this all Ariel. Didn’t I say I was gonna make the welterweight division great again? And that’s exactly what I did.”

Covington, who last fought almost one year ago when he defeated Rafael dos Anjos to win the interim welterweight title at UFC 225, is expected to challenge Usman for the official title some time in August, per his interview with Helwani.

With Woodley vs. Lawler and Masvidal vs. Askren already booked, expect the UFC to officially announce Usman vs. Covington in the coming days.
