The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns with two enthralling Interim Title bouts this weekend. One intriguing aspect of those two contests is that this is the first time in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history that more than one interim title will be awarded on a single ESPN+ PPV fight card.
Brawling for the Interim Lightweight Title, on a thirteen-fight winning streak, Max “Blessed” Holloway, the “Top Fan Favorite MMA Fighter”, whose last loss was to Conor McGregor at UFC Fight Night 26 on the 17th of August, way back in 2013, takes on Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier on a four fight-winning streak TONIGHT (April 13, 2019), at the highly anticipated UFC 236 PPV event on ESPN from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Max made the jump to 155 for his chance at revenge against Poirier, who handed him his first Pro MMA loss — will it prove to be a triumphant move at that? We shall find out together!
The co-main consists of an Interim Middleweight Title fight over Robert Whittaker’s title, featuring MMA artists Kelvin Gastelum, who last fought and won against both Ronaldo Souza and Michael Bisping, facing up against Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya, aka: the “#5 Current Best MMA Middleweight Fighter”, who heads into this battle on a sixteen-fight winning streak. Will Gastelum fail to break that streak, despite a valiant effort on his part? We shall find that out together, as well!
Although the fight card is certain to deliver memorable moments of violence, it’s tax season and the IRS mighta taken a bite outta your paycheck, so money might be tight. For that reason, SBN MMA’s Flyin’ Brian J has already secured his entrance beyond the paywall for a chance to see a few incredible bouts. With that purchase he aims to provide you with a radio-style play-by-play broadcast of each eye-poke, groin strike, highlight-reel knockout, etc. that is on the other side of the monetary blockade. His style might be more cringe worthy than Kelvin Gastelum walking around with Henry Cejudo’s belt, but during the entirety of UFC 236’s PPV main card he will be doing his best to keep fight fans on the, hopefully, intoxicating displays of mixed martial arts (MMA) violence starting at 10PM/7PM ET/PT in the video player above.
As an added bonus, Eddie Mercado from Bloody Elbow’s 6th Round Podcast will be joining Brian throughout the broadcast to help out with fight predictions and quick recaps, while I, June M. Williams, your BE Presents podcast manager, will be moderating the stream to keep away those rude spammers and pesky trolling commenters. Thanks for joining us, be sure to give us a “thumbs up” and subscribe!
