MMA Squared: Have you noticed most UFC title belts are in a state of chaos?

Look at the upcoming title fights, there are way more questions than answers on the horizon in almost every weight class.

2019 has been a solid year, lots of quality fights and performances, but as far as belts go, it’s chaos. Let’s check in with each weight class:

Heavyweight: DC is holding out for Brock while Stipe is on ice.

Light Heavyweight: Jon Jones holding it down... (again, we’re in the strangest timeline)

Middleweight: Robert Whittaker is medically incapacitated; hello interim title

Welterweight: Pleasantly normal, Usman is likely to face (stripped interim champ) Covington

Lightweight: The featherweight champ is gonna fight for the interim lightweight title? Come again? I love Holloway vs Poirier, but this is inviting chaos with Khabib, Tony, & McGregor in the wings.

Featherweight: See Above for Max Holloway, and the women’s division isn’t even on the UFC website rankings.

Bantamweight: TJ Dillashaw needs to rematch Henry Cejudo, the Flyweight champ. (sorry Marlon Moraes), Amanda Nunes : radio silence after icing Cyborg and becoming a two division champ. That makes no sense.

Flyweight: The men’s division may no longer exist. Valentina Schevchenko is set to defend against Jessica Eye.

Strawweight: Rose Namajunas set to defend against Jessica Andrade. A perfectly logical matchup; completely out of place among everything else.
