A potential strawweight title eliminator is the first fight scheduled for UFC 238.
Tatiana Suarez is set to meet Nina Ansaroff at the pay-per-view event on June 8 in Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday afternoon.
Suarez is one of the fast-rising fighters in the 115-pound division. The winner of The Ultimate Fighter 23, Suarez has won four straight in the Octagon. Most recently, the 28-year-old dominated former champ Carla Esparza en route to a third-round TKO victory.
Ansaroff became a legitimate contender after a giant upset of ex-title challenger Claudia Gadelha — the biggest win of her 15-fight career — at UFC 231 last December. The American Top Team product is riding a four-fight winning streak, which also includes decisions over Randa Markos and Angela Hill.
Suarez vs. Ansaroff could determine the division’s next title challenger after Jessica Andrade, who meets champion Rose Namajunas at UFC 237 in May.
Also booked for UFC 238 is a women’s flyweight bout between Katlyn Chookagian and Joanna Calderwood, per the report.
UFC 228 takes place at United Center. A main event has yet to be announced. Also on the card, women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko defends her title for the first time against Jessica Eye.
