Jon Jones has been in the UFC for nearly eleven years, going from an underdog to Stephan Bonnar in 2009 to as high as a 14-to-1 favorite to defend his light heavyweight title Anthony Smith in this Saturday’s UFC 235 main event. While most headlines concerning Jones in recent years have involved legal issues or drug testing controversies (and actual drug test failures), there’s no denying that he’s one of the most incredible talents we’ve ever seen in MMA.
As we near fight night in Las Vegas, ESPN has produced a compilation of Jones’ best UFC highlights over the years. This includes his short notice debut against Andre Gusmao, the spinning elbow against Bonnar, the orbital breaking elbow vs. Brandon Vera, the destruction of Mauricio Rua to win the UFC LHW belt, his submission of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, his near-armbar defeat turned into Americana tapout of Vitor Belfort, the thriller with Alexander Gustafsson, the TKO of Gustafsson in the rematch, and even the KO of Daniel Cormier despite the fact the fight being overturned to a no-contest due to his drug test failure.
