Francis Ngannou just made quick work of former heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez just 26 seconds into the UFC Phoenix main event.
Velasquez rushed in early, looking to get to work securing a takedown. On his way in, Ngannou clipped Velasquez with a heavy right hand that sent him collapsing to the floor. A few ground strikes later and the referee was stepping in to rescue the former champ. To make matters worse for Velasquez, his knee seemed to have twisted weird as he fell.
Check out Tim Burke’s play-by-play of Francis N’Gannou’s destruction of Cain Velasquez:
Round 1 - Velasquez with a big body kick right away. Uppercut from Ngannou and Velasquez is hurt! He’s down and Ngannou pounds him out! Just like that! It looks like Velasquez hurt his knee and went down due to that, but he was clearly hurt from the punches as well.
