Saturday night’s big Top Rank on ESPN main event sees Eleider Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev rematch for Alvarez’s WBO Light Heavyweight title. Here are the latest odds, courtesy of OddsShark:
Eleider Alvarez -175
Sergey Kovalev +145
No surprise that Alvarez is the favorite, but it is something of a surprise just how close the two men are here. In their first fight last year, Alvarez definitively stopped Kovalev in the 7th round. The first 6 rounds were more in Kovalev’s favor there, but it was Alvarez, not known for his punching power, who managed to close the show. For Kovalev to win here and pull off his own upset, he’ll need to fight a cleaner fight that last time and close the holes that Alvarez exploited. And at 35 years old and seeming to be in the late stage of his career, I’m not sure I see the Krusher doing that. There’s still big power in Kovalev’s hands though, which will always make him a tempting pick no matter against who. Honestly, these are good odds either way - if you feel confident in your fighter here, take a shot.
Here are odds on the rest of the card:
Teofimo Lopez -3000
Diego Magdaleno +1100Oscar Valdez -1000
Carmine Tommasone +1600Richard Commey -600
Isa Chaniev +400
If I was absolutely forced to make a bet here, I would put something down on Chaniev, as he is the only underdog with any shot of a spoil - and it’s not much of a shot. I’m staying clear.
Finally, a few other odds for big match-ups coming up:
Gervonta Davis -2500
Hugo Ruiz +1000Errol Spence Jr. -500
Mikey Garcia +350Terence Crawford -900
Amir Khan +550Canelo Alvarez -300
Daniel Jacobs +230
