As if this weekend couldn’t get any busier with MMA and boxing, we’ve also got a bare knuckle event too look forward to. Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships takes a short hop over to Cancun, Mexico this weekend with a bevy of MMA veterans to set up a night of absolute violence.
Former UFC fighter Bec Rawlings is in the main event, defending her title against Cecilia Flores. Rawlings won the belt in her second fight, a split decision against Britain Hart last August. She’s found a new life in combat sports with this new endeavor, and wants to hold on to that belt for as long as she can.
Another UFC vet looks to impress as Chris Lytle makes his bare knuckle debut against California MMA fighter and standout grappler JC Llamas. Lytle has a professional boxing record of 13-1 with one draw, which was in his debut. Lytle competed in the super middleweight division, and had some... mixed competition in terms of skill. At 44 years of age, Lytle hasn’t boxed since 2005 and retired from MMA in 2011.
One of MMA’s toughest men ever will also be ready to throw hands, as Joe “Diesel“ Riggs steps in against Mexican MMA vet Heriberto “El Rudo“ Tovar. The Hidalgo native is a rugged fighter with a 7-5 MMA record with 1 draw. Riggs is coming off an MMA win from January 4th, and has had experience in bare knuckle boxing before.
Julian “Let Me Bang Bro“ Lane will be trading punches against former WEC and UFC talent Leonard Garcia, and heavyweight Sam “Boxing Hillbilly“ Shewmaker looks to drop even more bombs when he takes on former MMA fighter Joel “The Beekeeper“ Paredes.
Finally, Joey “The Mexicutioner“ Beltran will be in a rematch of their insane bout last June against über-veteran Tony Lopez. Lopez just suffered a loss in early December to Judoka Satoshi Ishii via leg scissor choke, while Beltran has not fought since their bout last year. Both men showed each other a lot of respect and admiration after their last fight, and this should be just as intense.
Main card is as follows:
Bec Rawlings vs Cecilia Flores
Chris Lytle vs JC Llamas
Joe Riggs vs Rudo Tovar
Julian Lane vs Leonard Garcia
Joey Beltran vs Tony Lopez
Sam Shewmaker vs Joel Paredes
Tom Shoaff vs Diego Garigo
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships 4: USA vs Mexico takes place this Saturday, February 2nd. The event begins at 9:00pm EST and will be streaming live on FITE.tv for $29.99.
