Alistair Overeem entered UFC DC with the hopes of extending his win streak and getting back to the path of title contention. Instead, he suffered a late fifth-round TKO loss to undefeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
‘The Demolition Man’ was actually ahead in the scorecards, and would’ve won by decision if time expired. But after absorbing a right hand that dropped him and subsequently cut his lip in half, referee Dan Miragliotta decided to call the fight at 4:56 of round fight and award Rozenstruik a TKO victory.
As he was getting stitched up, Overeem tweeted out his post-fight reaction, slightly disputing Miragliotta’s stoppage call.
Getting stitched up. Lip not to sexy at the moment.. a little bit a fast stoppage if u ask me - but hope u guys enjoyed the fight— Alistair Overeem (@Alistairovereem) December 8, 2019
