UFC president Dana White initially dismissed any talk of Tyson Fury fighting in MMA, but the head promoter seems to be warming up to the idea.
Speaking with 106.7 FM in a recent interview, White revealed that Fury is very interested in making the move to MMA and hinted at further talks with heavyweight boxing star after his rematch with Deontay Wilder next year.
“It’s interesting. He and I talked the other day. He really is interested in fighting, so I respect that. We’ll see what happens.”
“Let’s see what happens with his boxing career. He’s got this rematch coming up with Wilder, which is obviously huge and a fun fight for the heavyweight division. You’ve got Ruiz and Joshua fighting this weekend. So, we’ll see how that goes and we’ll see what happens.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)
‘The Gypsy King’ recently headed to Liverpool to train with Darren Till, and ‘The Gorilla’ believes there’s a ‘70-30’ chance Fury makes the crossover to MMA.
Fury is expected to rematch Wilder on February 22 2020. The two heavyweights fought to a draw in what was considered by many boxing fans to be 2018’s the Fight of the Year.
