Cory Sandhagen was taken out of the UFC Raleigh fight card and now wants a top contender for his next fight.

Cory Sandhagen lost an opponent for UFC Raleigh when Frankie Edgar decided to step in as a last-minute replacement to fight at UFC Busan on Saturday. On Monday, it was reported that the number four-ranked bantamweight contender has been taken out of the card.

MMA Fighting confirmed the news through a text message sent by Sandhagen. In a subsequent Instagram post, “The Sandman” also mentioned he’s willing to wait for his next fight, as long as it’s against a top contender.

With Henry The Hall Monitor still on his power trip and wanting to fight a guy that lost (I know it was close, but on paper Aldo lost), who’s next for me?
A No. 1 contender fight with Cruz or Moraes makes most sense - they would be great fights for fans to watch
Aljimain is hurt, and Yan is a fight that makes more sense down the road. Comment below and don’t be a douche - it’s almost Christmas

UFC Raleigh is scheduled to take place on January 25th. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight matchup between Curtis Blaydes and former champion Junior dos Santos.
