Colby Covington might just be public enemy number one, and UFC welterweight rival Mike Perry has warned the former interim champ to watch his back this weekend at UFC 245.
Back in 2017 former UFC heavyweight titleholder Fabricio Werdum hit Covington with a boomerang and, speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani in a recent interview, ‘Platinum’ promised to sucker punch ‘Chaos’ after the Kamaru Usman fight.
“I think he is going to lose his fight on Saturday anyway, and he’s got protection,” Perry said ahead of his fight against Geoff Neal this Saturday, per BJPenn.com. “He’s got a babysitter at all times. It is not that I want to run up and say something to him. Everyone always says something to Colby, they warn him. I’m going to walk up behind him and hit him when he ain’t looking.
“I’m going to take my shot when I get a chance, you know what I mean. When he loses on Saturday and I win, let’s set that fight up. That’s the fight I want and that’s the fight I’ve been asking for. So, let’s make that happen.”
Perry will take on Neal on the UFC 245 preliminary card, while Covington will headline the event opposite UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. The PPV extravaganza takes place tomorrow night, Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
