UFC 228 is in the books and we saw a masterful performance for Tyron Woodley as he successfully defended his welterweight title for the fourth time. Even against a much bigger opponent in Darren Till, Woodley looked great both on the feet and on the ground, knocking him down and eventually choking him out.
The rest of the card had a bunch of wild finishes, making it one of the more entertaining pay-per-view events this year.
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:
ALHASSAN KO’D PRICE EARLY— Bloody Elbow (@BloodyElbow) September 9, 2018
PROS: That’s how you start a PPV.
CONS: 43 second KO. What’s not to like?
RIVERA DECISIONS DODSON— Bloody Elbow (@BloodyElbow) September 9, 2018
PROS: Rivera looked fast and sharp, even against someone like Dodson.
CONS: Super low volume. They punched each other more in the last 5 seconds than the entire 15 mins. That wasn’t exciting at all.
ZABIT KNEEBARS DAVIS— Bloody Elbow (@BloodyElbow) September 9, 2018
PROS: Zabit kept patient, landed a nice trip, and then turned Davis into a pretzel! Nifty kneebar from the back -- the second of the night. He called out Mendes too, and I'm all for it.
CONS: None! Please book Zabit again ASAP.
ANDRADE KO’D KOWALKIEWICZ!— Bloody Elbow (@BloodyElbow) September 9, 2018
PROS: One punch KO over one of the toughest and most technical strikers at 115! Just wow. And before that finish, it was a barn burner too! That Wandrade nickname fits.
CONS: None!! This card is bananas.
WOODLEY SUBS TILL— Bloody Elbow (@BloodyElbow) September 9, 2018
PROS: Woodley got a knockdown, landed brutal GNP, then choked Till out. Masterful performance for his 4th title defense
CONS: It didn’t matter in the end, but I wasn’t a fan of the ref's early separations. Also, will people finally appreciate Woodley now?
