Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson was a dream fight that almost came to fruition in 2015, but both men have now stepped away from the Octagon for vastly different reasons.

Jones, the former light heavyweight champion, is still provisionally suspended after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2017. His knockout win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 was overturned to a No Contest (NC) and ‘DC’ was reinstated as the official 205-pound champ.

‘Bones’ is awaiting a final verdict from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), who could suspend the 31-year-old for a maximum of four years due to his prior suspension for PED use in 2016. USADA recently denied the rumors that they had received a bribe from Jones and his team to negotiate a reduced suspension.

Johnson, on the other hand, retired from the sport after his second championship loss to Cormier at UFC 210 in 2017. ‘Rumble’, who has one of the most impressive knockout ratios in the light heavyweight division, is now focused on body building and recently crossed paths with Jones at the Gatt Supplements expo in Las Vegas.

Check out the faceoff below.

Johnson, 34, did hint at a return to the UFC in late 2017, but the Floridan seems primarily focused on body building.

Jones, the former pound-for-pound number one, is expected to hear a verdict from USADA in the coming weeks. The 31-year-old seems confident that he will return to the Octagon a lot sooner than expected.
