The first fight ended up in a draw, and the second contest saw Canelo Alvarez winning by a majority decision over Gennady Golovkin. Both fights certainly entertained and were indeed close, but not everyone agreed with the judges’ scoring.
Check below for the official Canelo vs GGG 2 scorecards:
Judge Glenn Feldman had a 114-114 draw, while two judges Dave Moretti and Steve Weisfeld both scored it 115-113 for Canelo to award him a victory. Interestingly enough, Moretti and Weisfeld also both gave the final round to Canelo. Had they given it to Golovkin, it would have been a draw on all three scorecards.
They were two competitive and close cards — especially this latest one — but with Golovkin not getting the nod on either of them, he’s understandably frustrated. It was evident after the decision was announced, so much so that he walked out and didn’t do the customary post-fight interview during the pay-per-view broadcast.
