Jarred Brooks puked so much he passed out after UFC 228 win

The ‘Monkey God’ beat Roberto Sanchez on short notice last Saturday in Dallas, TX, but still ended the night out cold.

Chalk another one up for Jarred Brook’s body. The UFC flyweight is now 2-0 against himself following UFC 228. Fortunately, this time he walked away with a win inside the cage before rendering himself unconscious.

The ‘Monkey God’ stepped up for his battle against fellow 125er Roberto Sanchez on just 5 days notice following the late removal of Ryan Benoit from the event. Brooks, who reportedly stays in ‘fight shape’ year-round, picked up a hard fought split decision over his opponent, overcoming a slow start to take over with wrestling and top control down the stretch.

However, while he may not have needed a full fight camp to get the job done on September 8th, the experience was still incredibly taxing. So much so that Brooks ended up with his head in a bucket, puking backstage after the fight. Hard enough and long enough that when he tried to get back to his feet, he passed out.

Brooks recounted the news to the assembled media, after UFC 228 (transcript via MMAjunkie):

“I stood up and all of a sudden I just lost consciousness,” Brooks said. “I think it was from puking. I puked in like those big buckets that I gave you, those BODYARMOR buckets. I puked about half that bucket full and all of a sudden I got back up, and yeah I passed out. I got my big manager, he’s about 250 pounds, he lifted me over his head and to the doctor and that’s pretty much how it ended.”

The win for Brooks takes him to 2-2 for his UFC career, and rebounds him from his infamous defeat back in June, where he dropped himself on his head and knocked himself out trying to slam Jose Torres in the second round. Hopefully, moving forward, Brooks can leave the damage he takes for his opponents to dish out.
