UFC 226, poster

UFC 226 took a hit, but the final product on offer still has plenty of kick. Originally, the event would have played host to two title fights. However, featherweight king Max Holloway fell out of his title defense fight to Brian Ortega due to concussion-like symptoms.

But the main event of this card has been left undisturbed, despite the best effort of some sneaky audio cables. Tonight, Stipe Miocic will put his UFC heavyweight title on the line against UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in only the third champion vs. champion fight put on by the promotion. Will DC join Conor McGregor as the only men to hold two UFC belts or will Miocic continue to pad his resume as best UFC heavyweight champion ever?

The rest of the PPV card is lights out. Even without one of the best fights on paper the UFC can do, there’s plenty of action involving recognizable names. The new co-main sees the last man to fight Miocic, Francis Ngannou, facing Derrick Lewis. Before that, a hastily put together welterweight bout sees lightweight veteran Paul Felder take on the outspoken Mike Perry. Also on the card is a lightweight bout between former champion Anthony Pettis and potential contender Michael Chiesa. The PPV opens with elite kickboxer Gokhan Saki vs. Khalil Rountree at light heavyweight.

The FS1 prelims, which begin at 8PM ET, are headlined by a middleweight contest between Uriah Hall and the surging Paulo Costa. Also on the prelims is Raphael Assuncao vs. Rob Font at bantamweight, Lando Vannata vs. Drakkar Klose at lightweight, and Curtis Millender vs. Max Griffin at welterweight.

There’s two UFC Fight Pass Early Prelims tonight, those begin at 7PM ET. There you can watch Daniel Hooker vs. Gilbert Burns (lightweight) and Jamie Moyle vs. Emily Whitmire (strawweight).
