Ahead of their World Cup quarter-final showdown with Croatia, the Russian national team gifted UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov with a football jersey signed by the entire team.
Star striker Artem Dzyuba presented the Dagestani native with the signed jersey in a video posted on the team’s official social media accounts. Dzyuba, who scored three goals in four games with Russia at the World Cup to become one of the team’s top goalscorers, congratulated the fighter on his success.
”Dear Khabib, we wish you the best of luck in the upcoming fight with the Irishman Conor McGregor,” said Dzyuba. “This will be the most important fight in your career. This is a gift from our entire team. I know that you love football, so here’s a T-shirt with the first number, because you are Number 1. Good luck in the UFC.”

Russia is scheduled to face Croatia in the quarter-final of the 2018 World Cup on Saturday. The anticipated match-up will take place at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi and will mark the first time that Russia takes part in the quarter-finals of the quadrennial event since 1970.
