Video: A complete history of the UFC Heavyweight rankings

From Velasquez to Miocic, we break down the complete history of the UFC Heavyweight Rankings.

This weekend’s main event pits the UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. If Cormier wins, it will have a profound affect on the UFC Heavyweight Rankings.

It wasn’t too long ago that Daniel Cormier was near the top of the Heavyweight division rankings, with Miocic nowhere in sight. A lot has changed at Heavyweight, especially in the past year.

Former champion Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos and Fabricio Werdum have all fallen off of the Top 5, and rising prospects like Francis Ngannou, Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov now populate the top three positions of the rankings.

In the video above, we go back to February 2013, when the UFC first implemented the official UFC rankings, to see how we ended up with our current rankings.
