Dana White’s Contender Series 2018 - Week 6 live results and discussion

Discuss the sixth week of the second season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, which features Nick Newell and Alex Munoz in the main event.

Tonight (July 24th) is week six of the second season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, which will highlight up-and-coming talent as well as some former UFC fighters looking for a second crack at the big time. Winners aren’t guaranteed a UFC contract, but it certainly helps to both win and impress at the same time.

Bloody Elbow is your place for live discussion of this five-fight event at The Ultimate Fighter gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event is a out between unbeaten Team Alpha Male talent Alex Munoz and former WSOF star Nick Newell, one of the sport’s most inspirational figures. Newell is without his lower left arm, but has still carved out an impressive 13-1 record, with that one defeat coming vs. Justin Gaethje.

As is the case for the whole of this eight-week run, Dana White’s Contender Series streams live on UFC Fight Pass, starting at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. For a complete preview of tonight’s show, check out Victor Rodriguez’s preview. The full fight card is as follows:

Alex Munoz def. Nick Newell via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Jim Crute def. Chris Birchler via TKO at 4:23 of round one

Sodiq Yusuff def. Mike Davis via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Jeff Hughes def. Josh Appelt via TKO at 4:26 of round one

Chase Hooper def. Canaan Kawaihae via unanimous decision (29-26, 29-26, 28-26)
