Earlier this week, two-division champion Daniel Cormier said he would be hanging up the gloves after his proposed superfight with Brock Lesnar in 2019.

But, speaking to TMZ Sports in a recent interview, the reigning light heavyweight and heavyweight titleholder is now considering a rematch with Stipe Miocic after he defends his heavyweight title vs. Lesnar.

“I don’t know, I think I’m gonna fight Brock Lesnar,” Cormier said when asked about Miocic’s call for an immediate rematch. “That seems, like, a little better.”

“Maybe,” Cormier added when asked if he would rematch Miocic after his fight with Lesnar.

Cormier knocked out Miocic earlier this month at UFC 226 and became one of only five champions to win belts in two separate weight classes, joining the likes of Conor McGregor, Randy Couture, Georges St-Pierre, and B.J. Penn.

After his WWE-like showdown with Lesnar in the UFC 226 post-fight interview, ‘DC’ was criticized by Miocic for his unprofessionalism and was called out for an immediate rematch.

Miocic, 35, had defended the UFC heavyweight title a record-breaking three times before being dethroned by Cormier at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and feels he’s more deserving of a title shot than Lesnar, who hasn’t officially won a fight since 2010.

Lesnar, the former UFC heavyweight champ, is not eligible to compete until he serves out the remainder of his one-year suspension. The WWE superstar was suspended for one year by USADA after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs at UFC 200. His win over Mark Hunt was overturned to a No Contest and the earliest Lesnar can return to the Octagon is January 8, 2019.

Cormier, the former Stikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix champ, is also interested in a rematch with Jon Jones and possibly defending his light heavyweight title vs. Shogun Rua.
