Ex-UFC heavyweight champion and longtime pro wrestling fan Cain Velasquez made a special appearance at WWE Performance Center earlier this week.

Not only did Velasquez have the chance to train with NXT Superstars in Orlando, but he also attended an NXT show taping. A WWE article says that Velasquez “stepped inside the ring to learn techniques under WWE PC coach Norman Smiley and participated in a session of DDP Yoga led by WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page.” You can see the video below.

“My experience here has been amazing,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to being here and learning as much as I can. I’ve been a fan of the sport since I was a little kid, and now I get to participate in it.”

Earlier this year, Velasquez and teammate Daniel Cormier attended WWE Elimination Chamber, as Ronda Rousey made her WWE signing official.

There’s no indication that Velasquez is looking to ditch MMA for pro wrestling, but it’s now been more than two years since his last bout, a first-round TKO of Travis Browne at UFC 200. He was scheduled to rematch Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207 later that December, only to withdraw from the card due to injury, something that has plagued him throughout his career. There’s no timetable on his return to the Octagon.

Meanwhile, Cormier is expected to defend his UFC heavyweight title against WWE superstar Brock Lesnar, the same man Velasquez took the UFC title from way back in 2010.
